If you live in New Zealand and earn a high income, your parents may qualify for residence under the Parent Category Resident Visa. This visa offers an opportunity for parents of residents to immigrate to New Zealand, provided their adult child or children meet the required income threshold.

To begin the process, your parents must submit an Expression of Interest (EOI).

As their sponsor, you must meet the following income criteria:

• - Earn at least 1.5 times the median income if sponsoring one parent.
• - Earn at least two times the median income if sponsoring two parents.
• - Alternatively, you and your partner or New Zealand sibling can jointly sponsor your parents, but higher joint income requirements will apply.

• - Once submitted, EOIs enter a ballot system, with 500 selections made randomly each year.
• - If your parents’ EOI is selected, they may be invited to apply for residence.
• - EOIs not selected from the pool will expire after two years.
